10-yr-old fakes abduction' story to cover up for attending birthday party
The girl had sneaked out of the house without telling her parents and returned late night.
Meerut: A 10-year-old girl from Saharanpur told her parents she was abducted by four men after they could not find her in the house for an entire evening and filed a police complaint, but it turned out to be a fabricated story.
According to a report, the girl, a class V student, had sneaked out of her house in the evening to attend her friend’s birthday party without her parents permission and cooked up the abduction story, fearing that her parents would punish her if she told them the truth.
Worried over her disappearance, they parents approached the police, who immediately acted upon the complaint and started looking for the girl. The girl however, turned up by herself at her home, late Saturday night and fearing her parent’s wrath, she told them that four men had kidnapped her outside the house and she managed to escape from their clutches.
Police said the girl claimed she was taken to an unknown location and that her story did not make any sense. On questioning her further, the police realised that she was lying and soon figured out what had happened.
The police contacted the girl’s friend’s parents and found out she had been at their place and also saw pictures of her at the birthday party.
