Adivasi students’ bike yatra from Sept. 13
ADILABAD: Telangana Adivasi Vidyarthi Sangham (TAVS) will take up a bike yatra to study prevailing conditions at government hostels and schools in erstwhile Adilabad district from September 13.
Addressing media here on Sunday, TAVS state secretary Pusam Sachin underlined that students are facing numerous problems in tribal ashram and residential schools, apart from colleges.
He underlined that the prescribed menu is not being adhered to in messes while hostels lack basic amenities. Officials concerned have not bothered even after several students have died of viral fevers, Sachin stated.
He said after completing their tour, students will submit a memorandum to the state government regarding what they have observed and suggest solutions.
TAVS district president Somesh, secretary Atram Krishna, vice president Tanush and senior leaders Madam Nagorao, Kanaka Nagesh, Kanaka Malku and Kalpana were present at the press meet.
The Adivasi student leaders accused state government of not supplying textbooks, four pairs of dresses and cosmetics to residential school students. They alleged the state government has not released their pending scholarships.
