Malayappa Swamy rides on Vasuki

TIRUPATI: On the second day morning on Tuesday, the processional deity of Lord Sri Malayappa Swamy all alone takes a pride ride on the cute, five-hooded serpent king Vasuki.
According to Hindu mythology it is the divine snake which is associated to both Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. In Samudra Madhanam, the deities and asuras used Vasuki as the rope and Mandhara Parvata as axle for churning the milk ocean to obtain divine nectar —Amritam under the instructions of Lord Vishnu.
By taking ride on this vehicle, the Lord enlightens pilgrims, that in spite of his mightiness, Lord Vasuki remained humble and patient for a good cause while Devatas and Asuras were churning the milk ocean using him as rope.
So it gives a clear message that it is not our mightiness that makes us great but our patience and politeness. TTD chairman Dr Ch. Krishnamurthy, TTD EO Dr D. Sambasiva Rao, and others were present.
