Ailing AP Maid in Dubai Rehabilitated in Eluru
CGI Dubai booked an air ticket for Manemma to travel from Dubai to Hyderabad
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS), Eluru district collectorate and Consulate General of India (CGI), Dubai, have jointly helped in rehabilitating an ailing housemaid working in Dubai at St. Ann's Loyola Prem Nivas Rehabilitation Centre in Eluru.
According to officials, M. Manemma, a resident of Eluru in Andhra Pradesh, had gone to Dubai to work as a housemaid in September 2022. There, she was diagnosed with life-threatening TB in December 2022.
Doctors treating Manemma in Dubai informed her that she can travel to India. CGI-Dubai reached out to APNRTS president Venkat S. Medapati for details of healthcare centres near Manemma’s hometown, as she had no supporting family members.
APNRTS contacted Eluru district collectorate for details, which got in touch with St. Ann's Loyola Prem Nivas Rehabilitation Centre for rehabilitating Manemma. The centre agreed to accommodate Manemma and submitted a letter, which APNRTS shared with CGI Dubai.
CGI Dubai booked an air ticket for Manemma to travel from Dubai to Hyderabad. At Hyderabad airport, APNRTS arranged a free ambulance and transported her to the Prem Nivas Rehabilitation Centre on Tuesday.
In this regard, APNRTS has thanked Eluru collector V. Prasanna Venkatesh, in-charge District Women and Child Welfare officer K. Vijaya Laxmi, DRO A.V.N.S. Murthy, district officials and CGI-Dubai for their help in rehabilitating Manemma.
