Vijayawada: NTR district collector Dr. S Dilli Rao on Thursday directed officials to work dedicatedly to achieve 100 per cent Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) by admitting school-age children into the primary and upper primary schools within the district.

He himself launched the enrolment drive within the 91 and 92 sachivalayam limits on the premises of Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium in Vijayawada.

Speaking on the occasion, Dilli Rao said there are 3,16,072 school-age children in 10,668 clusters of all 20 mandals in the district. Details of 97 per cent of these children have been registered. The remaining too should be enrolled soon, he stated.

The collector underlined that as per the government’s directives, GER of school-age children between the ages of 15–18 years should be registered in the Child Info app. He asked volunteers to also survey students who had been studying in Class 10 but failed. They too should be made to attend classes in subjects in which they are weak. It should be ensured that they too write their SSC exams.
