Kannur: Kollanadiyil Narayani is the symbol of the terror pervading the lives of the people of Kannur who are the victims of  the frequent political killings and violence. She is the mother of RSS worker Ramith, who was killed  at Pinarayi  recently.  Her husband Uthaman was hacked to death at Chavassery, near Iritty, in 2002.  She is virtually on the run  haunted by the fear of the two killings that ruined  her life.  She has already moved to her son-in-law's house leaving behind  the second house she built at Pinarayi.  She had left the ancestral house of her husband at Chavassery  after his murder.

Narayani and her two children, Ramith, 11, and Ramisha, 10, then moved to Pinarayi where her relatives were staying. She had built a  small house ‘Karunyam’ there with the earnings from her job as a tailor and the support of her relatives. But her only son was murdered here and she cannot live here any longer as her daughter and relatives feel that the place is unsafe for her.

Ramith was killed when  Narayani had brought her daughter for her second delivery.  “It was in front of my daughter they killed my son.  Now, even her in-laws are scared to send her back here. My four-year-old granddaughter is afraid of visiting the house. I had no  option but to leave with my daughter,” said Narayani, who came to  Pinarayi from Morazha near Taliparamba on Friday to perform the final rituals for her son.

“We are running from one place to another after every loss in the family. Why the chief minister is unable to maintain peace at least in his hometown? I feel he is a misfit for the post.  A chief minister should treat the people of his state equally.  Why then he was hesitant to visit my house after the murder? I can’t get my son back. But at least I need to see his killers,” she laments.
