Cops probe sex racket angle
HYDERABAD: The godman who was apprehended on Sunday is suspected of being a part of a major sex trafficking ring operating from Karnataka's bordering districts.
The Chandrayangutta police revealed that the accused, Syed Hussain, whose phone the cops seized, was taking nude photos and videos of women under the pretext of helping them solve their financial and health problems.
The police, who registered a case of cheating and use of force under the Indian Penal Code against the accused, stated that they had sent special teams to Karnataka to look into a possible sex racket angle. According to the police, the accused led them to believe he could 'rain currency notes (noton ki barish)' on women who posed in the nude.
The accused arrived in the city a few days ago and was staying with a relative in Chandrayangutta. The police conducted a raid after receiving information about his activities, and Hussain was apprehended late Sunday and rescued a woman who was in his custody. Hussain allegedly enticed her with the promise of showering currency notes, according to police.
Police discovered that the photos were shared to his handler, whose name he mentioned as ‘Jadugar’, who lives in the Kalburagi (Gulbarga) district of Karnataka. Police have also begun gathering information on other women who have approached him. Further, the police discovered that Hussain, Jadugar, and their associates targeted several vulnerable women in Kalaburagi and Bidar districts.
