Hyderabad: A speeding truck rammed a bike from the rear near Pedda Shahpur of Shamshabad on Sunday, killing three members of a family including a nine-year-old girl.

The police said the incident took place around 2 pm on Sunday, when the couple and their younger daughter were headed to meet their older daughter who was studying in a residential institution.

“Gopal, 47, was riding the bike while his wife, Anjali, 42, and daughter, Swathi, 9, were riding pillion when the truck, being driven in a rash and negligent manner, hit their vehicle from behind near Pedda Shapur village,” a Shamshabad police official said, adding that the three of them were killed on the spot.

“Gopal had four daughters — Sravanthi, 12, Madhavi, 7, Swati, 9, and Sindu, 5. They were residents of Kaialakuta thanda in Shadnagar, and were heading towards Champapet to meet Sravanthi at a hostel in Champapet,” a police official said.

The truck driver was booked under Section 304A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC and arrested.
