Hyderabad: Hyderabad is all set to get a five-star rating as an open garbage free city in Swachh Survekshan and Water Plus recertification for 2023. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on January 11.

The Union urban affairs ministry had declared Hyderabad  as three-star city for two years, though the GHMC had applied for a five-star rating. For 2023, Hyderabad has been declared as a five-star city for garbage-free cities.

A city is rated as 'Water Plus' provided all wastewater is treated to a satisfactory level as per  Central Pollution Control Board norms.

Other urban local bodies to win awards are the civic bodies of Siddipet, Nizampet and Gundlapochampally for good sanitation practices.
