Kochi cops wish all a safe journey

Kochi: A five-day traffic awareness exhibition programme by the Kochi City Police will be held at Marine Drive from Monday.

‘Subhayatra Road Safety Exhibition-2017’ will include seminars on various topics like safety of women and children in journeys, road safety audit competition for engineering students, vintage car parade and meeting with residents association over how to improve city traffic scenario among others.

“The main aim is to generate traffic awareness among citizens in the wake of increasing road mishaps. One among the 50 stalls in the exhibition will be on new generation bikes.

The visitors will be given basic information on how to safely use the vehicle. In cities like Kochi, it has come to our notice that rough usage of new generation bikes are resulting in many mishaps,” said Nazeer M A, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic West).

As part of the event, a road safety audit competition will be held for students of various engineering colleges in the district. “The topic will be how to make the Container Road stretch, where most number of mishaps happens in the city, more safe and accident free. The students need to give suggestions after conducting a proper study including field visit. The best ones will be complied, discussed and measures taken for their implementation.
