CS reviews arrangements for Ambedkar statue inauguration

HYDERABAD: Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari instructed officials to make elaborate arrangements for inauguration function of the 125-feet Dr B.R. Ambedkar statue on April 14, Ambedkar Jayanti, on the directions of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.

Presiding over a coordination meeting with senior officials at BRKR Bhavan here on Thursday, she asked the R&B department to arrange the stage, barricading, setting up of kiosks and supply of flowers. The GHMC was tasked with beautification of the venue and keeping the surroundings clean and arranging for mobile toilets.

With one lakh people expected to attend the event, the police was told to issue
an advisory to the public in advance to avoid confusion regarding traffic diversions.

Other civic departments were similarly tasked. In view of the heat, the health department was told to arrange for ORS packets and place ambulances on standby.
Santhi Kumari directed officials to jointly inspect the premises on Friday to firm up the seating, parking and other logistics plans.

At a video conference, Santhi Kumari directed district collectors to prepare an action plan for collection of sheep units, transportation and collection of deposit amount from the beneficiaries. She said that the plan should be prepared in accordance with the target of distributing sheep to 3.38 lakh beneficiaries in the second phase.

The sheep distribution programme should be organised under the leadership of the collectors. Collectors of 12 districts who have the highest number of beneficiaries were asked to take special measures. The collectors were also told to complete the transport related tenders immediately.
