Infant dumped in Sangareddy: Issue gets caste colour
HYDERABAD: Almost two weeks after a just-born girl was found abandoned near a garbage dump in Sirgapur of Sangareddy district, allegations that the baby was born of a minor from a minority community who was studying in a Telangana minority welfare residential institution in neighbouring Narayankhed, cropped up.
MBT leader Amjed Ullah Khan said that on inquiry, he found that after the girl delivered, the school principal herself had taken the child and abandoned her. Local BJP leaders also said the staff had covered up the issue under pressure and demanded strict action against all those involved in the incident.
Meanwhile, Sirgapur SI S. Narayana said they had already registered a case after the baby was found on March 24. Investigation is on to trace the parents of the child, who is now with woman and child welfare department personnel.
Amjed Allah Khan said that on information, he visited the village and the hostel and found that the information was true but it was being suppressed under pressure from local politicians..
Meanwhile, BJP leader Mir Firasath Ali Baqri wondered how the hostel staff did not notice when the girl was pregnant. He demanded strict action against the staff and officials working in the institution and blamed the state government for neglecting the interests of minorities.
