PM Narendra Modi to visit Perumbavoor

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit the home of Jisha, who was raped and murdered in Perumbavoor on April 28, during his visit to the state for election campaigning on May 11. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi may also visit the bereaved on May 10.
Top officials, including National Women's Commission chairperson Lalitha Kumaramangalam and member Rekha Sharma, Union Social Justice Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot and National SC/ST Commission chairman R. L. Punia have already visited the victim’s mother.
The state BJP leadership has sought the permission of PMO for Mr Modi visit to Perumbavoor. Mr Kummanam Rajasekharan, state BJP president told DC that when Mr Modi comes to Kerala for the first leg of campaigning on Friday, they would request him to visit Perumbavur.
“The central government has speeded up the process of getting a report from the various dignitaries who have visited Perumbavur and we are certain that justice would be delivered to the kin of the victim,” said Mr Kummanam.
Mr Modi will return on Sunday and attend public rallies in Kasargod, Kuttanad, Kanyakumari and Thiruvananthapuram. He will address a meeting at Tripunnithura on May 11 after attending a public rally at Vedaranyam in Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu. He may visit Perumbavur first before going to Tripunnithura.
