Relief to farmers as AP government assures to purchase entire paddy produce
KAKINADA: Civil supplies minister Karumuri Nageswara Rao said that in order to help and rescue farmers from crop losses, the government is purchasing paddy both offline and online. It is taking steps to purchase the entire paddy produce without considering its moisture, brokenness and other such aspects. Around 10 lakh gunny bags have been bought from Krishna district to meet the requirements, he said.
He told the media at Tanuku on Saturday that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has instructed officials to purchase the entire paddy stock and make payments in time so that farmers are no subject to any further grief. He said that insurance coverage has been given to all farmers at government costs.
He regretted that without considering the welfare measures being taken to bring relief to farmers, the opposition leader N. Chandrababu Naidu was needlessly criticizing the government. He said that when Naidu was the chief minister, he neither paid input subsidy nor insurance to the farmers.
He said that paddy stock which was being dried on the roads is being takento RBKs to safeguard the produce from any further damage. He said that they had already distributed quality seeds, pesticides and equipment to all farmers.
Rao visited fields in Iragavaram mandal and said that harvested crop is being directly shifted to rice mills to avoid any inconvenience to the farmers.
