Private inter-state buses from Vytilla hub
The demand by the private luxury operators to allot them 24-hour parking space was the primary constraint.
Kochi: Soon all inter-state luxury coaches would operate out of the Vytilla Mobility Hub after the final nod of Kochi city police. Though the proposal was there for some time, the demand by the private luxury operators to allot them 24-hour parking space was the primary constraint.
"The main aim of the hub was to offer a one-stop solution for all travel needs. Hence we held discussions with the inter-state private bus operators. The ones starting from Ernakulam, around 20 in numbers, has agreed to climb down from their earlier stance on parking condition. The buses from other centres like Thiruvananthapuram will also proceed via the hub," a senior official said.
However, a final decision on the same will be taken only after the meeting between the VMHS (Vytilla Mobility Hub Society) managing director and the assistant commissioner of police (traffic - East) on the traffic implication at the Vytilla junction. "Most of the buses leave the city between 6 pm and 9 pm and they have to take U-turn at the busy Vytilla junction. A traffic plan will be implemented to avoid traffic congestion there," the official said.
