Take Steps To Keep Seasonal Diseases At Bay: GVMC
VISHAKHAPATNAM: Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) commissioner C.M. Saikanth Varma directed the officials on Thursday to take proactive measures for enhanced sanitation management to keep the monsoon-related seasonal diseases at bay. He advised the administrators of all GVMC wards to clear the silt from the major drains so that storm water may flow freely into the sea.
"In light of the seasonal diseases that occur during the rainy season, all precautions are being taken to prevent overflow in low-lying areas,” said the GVMC Commissioner.
The commissioner also directed officials to raise public awareness about the dangers of dumping rubbish down drains. GVMC officials should be prepared to identify low-lying regions in each zone, and ward secretariat staff should notify residents well in advance of rains. Rainwater should also be evacuated using motors on a regular basis to avoid clogs beneath bridges. GVMC is attempting to prepare for the monsoon season in order to avoid accidents and traffic concerns.
