Follow SC norms in marital disputes: Telangana HC to lower courts
HC directs lower courts to adhere to apex court guidelines — matrimonial disputes to be conducted in-camera, hearing via video conference
HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court gave instructions to the lower courts in the state to follow the guidelines laid by the Supreme Court in various cases, while adjudicating matrimonial disputes.
The court directed lower courts to strictly adhere to the guidelines laid by the apex court — matrimonial disputes to be conducted in-camera, hearing through video conference, wives have liberty to attend courts only at the time of reconciliation session or recording evidence and husbands have burden to pay the travel, lodging and boarding expenses to the wife and her attendant when they attend the court.
These directions were issued pursuant to hundreds of transfer petitions filed before the High Court seeking directions to transfer the cases in lower courts from one jurisdiction to another. Most of these petitions are filed by couples in matrimonial disputes.
