Foundation laid for 21-km solar-roof cycling track on ORR
HYDERABAD: Minister K.T. Rama Rao laid the foundation stone for a 21-km solar-roof cycling track costing `88.12 crore on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) on Tuesday. The Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL), a wing of the HMDA, will build the track from Nanakramguda to the Telangana State Police Academy (TSPA) and from Narsingi to Kollur.
He said if everything went well, the cycling tracks would be opened to the public from summer next year. The track will have parking spaces, bicycle docking and rental station, food courts, drinking water, restrooms and basic bicycle repair shops for cyclists.
Rama Rao said the government would construct another 46-km cycle track around Gandipet. The minister said the government was also contemplating allowing bicycles to be carried in Metro Rail trains. He said Ananthagiri Hills, Kotipalli Lake and parts of Vikarabad would also be developed into tourist locations.
