Visakhapatnam: Education minister Botsa Satyanarayana said here on Tuesday that teachers' salaries were delayed due to a technical glitch. By September 7 or 8, the salaries would be deposited in their accounts every month, he said.

The minister was the chief guest at the state Best Teacher award ceremony held on Teacher’s Day at Andhra University. Across AP, 196 teachers were felicitated. Select teachers from all levels were honoured.

Satyanarayana spoke to the teachers from the podium. “Some forces are trying to malign and humiliate the YSRC government. I request intelligent teachers not to believe in poisonous propaganda. I promise that this government will stand by you, no matter what kind of trouble you face.”

He also spoke about appointments in the universities in the state.

He said, “There were no appointments in our universities for the past 15 years. There is no opportunity to appoint a professor or an assistant professor. This happened due to technical reasons or lack of sincerity of the previous governments. However, universities are facing serious difficulties. The students are the losers.”

He said, “Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy thought about this problem. He gave necessary orders to make appointments in the universities. As per the CM’s order, we have filled 3200 posts in universities.”

The minister said that by December this year, more professors and assistant professors would be appointed in all the universities. “As for schools, the CM ordered that from Class 3, subject teachers should be appointed.”

“Even in the recent Class 10 results, the government schools’ performance was the highest. All the credit for this goes to government teachers,” he said.

The minister also stated that Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan praised the education system in Andhra Pradesh.
