App to promote deals, offers from MSME entities

Chennai: City-based students have developed an app ‘DealorDeals’ to aid promoting deals and offers from small and mid-scale businesses in the city among customers.
Launched a month ago for Android platform initially, the app has about 70 business owners aboard - in food, retail, footwear and clothing – and is currently available for businesses in areas like Ashok Nagar, Egmore, Choolaimedu, Kodambakkam, Nungambakkam, Kilpauk, and Arumbakkam.
The owners of these businesses can use the DealorDeals app to notify customers about daily promotional offers and exciting deals. While huge brands find it easy to promote themselves through advertisements, promotional emails and messages, DealorDeals aims at making it easier for small and mid-scale businesses by promoting their deals and offers.
“When Pizza Hut or Flipkart have exclusive offers and sales, everyone gets to know through advertisements or their own apps but there are a number of small and mid-scale industries which lack such connectivity with consumers. We aim to fill this gap,” said Mohammed Ishak Rayyan, a final year Computer Science student of Velammal Engineering College, who along with his batch mate, P.V. Hari Krishnan, co-created the app.
The app is currently available for Android platforms, and the duo plans to roll it other platforms soon. They would be expanding coverage of businesses to 15 more prime areas and for more categories in stores within the next two months.
The business owners use an admin version of the app, which is used by them to post their deals, which is currently free. The same deals are notified to customers with the DealorsDeal app on their devices. Excited by the response of onboard businesses, the young duo aims at expanding the reach more to other parts of the city.
