Namakkal: Parents end life after daughter marries outside caste

NAMAKKAL: An elderly couple committed suicide near here on Saturday over a row following their daughter’s love marriage with a youth outside their caste.
According to police, Subasri, 23, daughter of Suguna Selva Pillai and Meenakshi, from Thandavapalayam village near Thiruchengode, has been working in a knitwear-manufacturing unit. She fell in love with one Dhanapal from Thiruchengode, who is working at a computer centre.
On Friday, the love couple married despite the girl’s parents’ objection to the relationship and then approached the Thiruchengode police station seeking security.
However, repeated attempts by police officials to contact the girl’s parents failed as none of them attended the call. When police managed to contact the girl’s close relative Surya, he later come to the police station and tried to contact her parents.
With no response from the other end forthcoming, Surya grew suspicious, rushed to their home and found the parents of the girl hanging. Police recovered the two bodies and further investigation is on.
