Chennai: PMK founder S. Ramadoss on Saturday announced that his party would boycott the bypoll to Thirupparankundram condemning the Election Commission's 'partial act' of rejecting the party's request for 'mango' symbol in the constituency.

He said PMK is a recognised party in Puducherry and a party recognised in one state should be given the same symbol in other states also. After the PMK’s request, the party had been given the 'mango' symbol in Aravakurichi and Thanjavur. But, in Thirupparankundram, the election official had rejected the plea, saying that application for symbol should have been given within three days of poll notification.

When the rules are same for all constituencies, how could the party symbol be denied for another constituency, he asked.
