Hyderabad: Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) secretary, Anita Ramachandran, on Monday issued a directive instructing District Collectors to prepare for the rescheduled Group-II examinations on January 6 and 7, 2024. Originally planned for November 2 and 3, 2023, the postponement was necessitated by the concurrent announcement of Assembly elections in the state.

The Election Commission of India's election schedule coincided with the initial exam dates, leading to the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct in the state. Consequently, TSPSC decided to defer the examinations to January 2024.

A total of 5.51 lakh aspirants have applied for the Group-II exams, competing for 783 vacant posts. The TSPSC intended to conduct the exams across 1,500 centres, involving approximately 25,000 police personnel and an additional 20,000 staff.

In a letter, Ramachandran emphasised the need for adequate preparations to ensure the smooth conduct of the exams on the rescheduled dates. The Group II exams had faced multiple postponements in the past due to paper leaks and clashes with other government exam dates.
