Assault, high alert and spike strips: Unruly behaviour at airport over parking fee
Hyderabad: In an incident of unruly behaviour, occupants of two cars assaulted the staff of the high-security Shamshabad airport over parking fee and tried to flee the premises.
Alerted by the parking lot staff, CISF personnel sounded a high alert and deployed spike barriers, using which one of the cars was intercepted and its occupants detained. The other car managed to flee.
The incident took place on Saturday.
According to sources, seven persons were in an SUV and a sedan, allegedly in an inebriated condition. While leaving the airport premises from Exit 1 at the parking lot after seeing off a friend, they were asked to pay the parking fee, but picked up an argument with the staff and then assaulted them.
Upon being denied an exit, they reversed their vehicle and tried to crash the barriers. While the sedan made it, the SUV was intercepted and its four occupants were handed over to the police for action.
The police said a case for assaulting the staff and damaging the property was registered against the suspects and further investigation is underway. The SUV was also seized.
