RTC Special Buses to Ease Rush During Sankranti Festival

Visakhapatnam: In view of the upcoming Sankranti festival; the Road Transport Corporation (RTC) is all set to introduce special bus services for passengers to make a hassle-free travel.

As per the press statement issued by the Deputy Public Transport Officer (DPTO), A. Vijay Kumar, apart from regular bus service, the plying of special buses will be add-ons for the convenience of travellers.  

Around seven non-AC buses and one AC bus will start plying from January  11, nine buses will be introduced on January 12, followed by 6 non-AC buses and one AC bus on January 13.

Altogether 24 special buses will operate from Hyderabad, and eight buses will run from Vijayawada, five from Rajahmundry, and two from Amalapuram. A total of 15 buses have been arranged specially for Srikakulam district.

Explaining further, Kumar said that in addition to the routine services, special buses will be introduced; on regular fare, for the convenience of passengers heading home to celebrate Sankranti festival. Those making bulk reservation will be offered 10% discount on the gross ticket purchase, stated the press statement.  

To cater to the needs of rising demand of buses, services will be available every 10 minutes from Visakhapatnam Dwarka Bus Station for the destinations such as Srikakulam, Tekkali, and Palasa Ichchapuram. Besides, buses will operate from 9:30pm to 5:00am for the conveniences of the passengers.

For ensuring smooth and hassle-free travel experience, a dedicated team of officials will monitor operations round-the-clock and at the Dwarka bus station.

Officials said that the special buses will be introduced keeping in mind to accommodate the likely surge of passengers during the festival. The services will be regulated as per the passengers’ occupancy in the special buses.
