Bus loses control on Chettuva bridge

Thrissur: Forty people were injured when an over-speeding private bus on it way to Guruvayur from Ernakulam hit another bus coming from the opposite direction on Chettuva bridge near here on Monday morning. However, a major mishap was averted as the handrails on the bridge prevented the bus from plunging into the river.

Chavakkad police has registered a case against driver of the 'Aattuprambathu' bus for reckless driving. The injured were rushed to private hospital in Chettuva, Engadiyur, Chavakkad and Thrissur. Police officials said that none of the injuries were serious. The handrails of the bridge were damaged after the buses hit them.
