Hyderabad: A Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) delegation submitted a representation to Kode Durga Prasad, former director-general, CRPF, who is assisting former Supreme Court judge Justice L. Nageswara Rao (retired), appointed by the apex court to oversee HCA affairs, seeking support and justice for its cause.

The delegation was led by TCA president Yendala Laxmi Narayana and comprised its general secretary Dharam Guruva Reddy, treasurer Dr P. Vijay Chandar Reddy and members T. Jaypal, B. Pravesh Kumar, Syed Nayeem, K. Venkanna, and G. Prem Kumar.

Guruva Reddy said Prasad responded positively and discussed the issues of district cricket in detail. “We are pushing to bring the Telangana districts on the TCA platform under the BCCI umbrella,” he said. The TCA is seeking the cricket board’s associate membership.

The BCCI had acknowledged TCA’s work in its July 11, 2021, order, he said. Guruva Reddy pointed out that the TCA oversees districts cricket outside Hyderabad, leaving the capital to the HCA (Hyderabad Cricket Association).

He said the High Court had suspended a state government memo on November 16, 2022, which had directed districts collectors to encroach into district cricket affairs, following the TCA’s objections. This led to the government to stay away from district cricketing affairs.
