Jishnu Pranoy's sister begins hunger strike at home
Ramesh Chennithala had asked her not to go on hunger strike, but she refused.
Kozhikode: Jishnu Pranoy’s sister Avishna, 15, started a hunger strike in her home at Valayam on Thursday in protest against the police action on her mother Mahija and her relatives in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday. Avishna, studying in 10th class, said that she would continue her protest till Mahija returned home. “Now the police is threatening us like P. Krishnadas, the first accused in the death of Jishnu. It was unfortunate that Pinarayi Vijayan’s police have done this. Mr Vijayan was the hero of my brother,” she said.
Avishna said she had stayed back as her grandmother was alone. “Why the police did not show the same power to nab the accused in Jishnu’s death?” she asked. At the same time, she agreed that many demands of the family were met by the government. Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala had asked her not to go on hunger strike, but she refused.
