Bengaluru: The city, which has seen summer temperatures soar as never before this year, cooled down considerably on Friday as it received 44 mm of rain in just four hours. Traffic jams and interruptions in power supply were reported from across Bengaluru, even as 32 trees were uprooted , and several areas flooded,  including the Kanteerava stadium.

The rain, described as pre monsoon showers by the weathermen, and expected to continue for a few days more,  saw city temperature plunge to 21 degree Celsius from a high of 35 degree Celsius.  Feeder faults caused disruption of power in Agara, Koramangala, Jayanagar, JP Nagar 2nd phase, Banashankri 2nd stage  and Murgeshpalya and the BBMP control room  received hundreds of complaints of tree falls from Jayanagar, JP Nagar, Yelahanka, Kamalanagar and Katriguppe. Two branches of a tree also fell in the grounds of the police commissioner's office.  At least 13 localities were waterlogged, including HSR layout sector 3, CV Ramannagar, Hebbal and Malleswaram.

The BESCOM call centre  received as many as  2,039 calls and registered 1,121 complaints  from South Circle (506 ), East Circle (444), West circle (114 ), North Circle (57). Five electrical poles were broken due to tree fall in Jayanagar 9th block and  one pole each was damaged in Domlur and RR Nagar.
