Hyderabad: Legal Metrology Controller Akun Sabharwal has set 30, 50 and 100 days' targets for District Legal Metrology Officers (DLMO) to take stern actions — to check and curb adulteration in the state.

He also said that their work would be reviewed after the stipulated time assigned to each of the DLMO, and if one failed to meet the deadline, strict action would be initiated against those officers.

Legal Metrology Officials have been given orders to check 43 types of trading items including petrol, gold shops, dharamkaantaas, kerosene, lubricants, rice at the rice mills, paddy at the paddy purchasing centres, steel, cement, fertilisers, hardware and electricals.

Mr Sabharwal urged for co-ordination between Legal Metrology officials and police department to bring adulterators to book and curb the menace.
