Alleged sympathiser of ISIS had 4,000 like-minded friends on Facebook.
Hyderabad: Alleged ISIS sympathiser Konakalla Subrahmanyam alias Subbu alias Mullah Omar had a PDF file on how to make Molotov cocktails (petrol bombs) on his mobile phone. Police also found that he had 4,000 like-minded friends on Facebook, whose antecedents are being verified by the concerned authorities. The Hyderabad Special Investigating Team that arrested him after grilling him in police custody produced him in court on Thursday. A police official said that Subrahmanyam used FB, Telegram and Whatsapp to communicate with his like-minded friends.
“The Whatsapp group he was using is named ‘True Religion of Allah’ where he chats with several people asking them about their opinion of ISIS. He gets into deep conversations that show positive inclination towards ISIS. Incriminating evidence has been found regarding his online radicalisation where he has expressed that he wants to turn into a mujahid,” the official said. Subrahmanyam has no passport. He had gone to Mumbai to meet one Abu Qahafa Al-Hindi who was reportedly helping him financially.
Investigations found that he was also chatting with people from African countries such as Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. A PDF file on how to make petrol bombs was found on his mobile phone. “The entire chatting and other activities he had done on his mobile phone. He had purchased a SIM card in another name. We have sent his mobile phone’s SIM card for forensic analysis,” said the official. He added that Subrahmanyam comes from an agricultural family in Challapalli in Krishna district. His father is a farmer and his brother is an engineering graduate. “We have also inspected the house in Bharatnagar where he stayed with his brother-in-law.”
