Amarnath Yatra suspended temporarily due to inclement weather
Priests performed the routine rituals at the holy Amarnath cave, even as the pilgrims were stopped from proceeding to the sacred shine by suspending the Amarnath Yatra, both from Pahalgam and Baltal routes due to inclement weather on Friday.
As part of the morning aarti, the priests chanted hymns standing amidst the frozen ice in the cave located in Jammu and Kashmir. A video of the rituals performed at the shrine was released by Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board. The Board posted the video on social media to enable the pilgrims stranded on their way to watch the rituals.
The Amarnatha Yatra began on July 1 and during the last five days, over 67,566 pilgrims visited the cave. During the journey, the pilgrims are being assisted by state agencies and civil departments by providing all facilities and essentials necessary for them. Police, health, labour, fire, education and animal husbandry officials have been deployed to look into the arrangements for the pilgrims, the shrine Board said.
The 62-day long Shri Amarnath Yatra will culminate on August 31, 2023.
