KOZHIKODE: The Samastha leaders  have alleged that imperialist forces were trying to connect Islam with ISIS.  The extremist forces among the community were tarnishing the image of the religion, they said.  They were participating in the    inauguration of the three-month  campaign,  ‘IS-Salafism-Fascism,’ being organised by Sunni Yuvajana Sangham (SYS), youth wing of Samastha Kerala Jam-Iyyathul Ulama,  against  terrorist forces here on Saturday.

Samastha Kerala JamIyyathul Ulama secretary Kottumala Bappu Muzaliyar said that the campaign would be spread to all districts and in particular, each Assembly constituency  in the state to make the common people of the community aware of the presence of terrorism at the grassroots level. This is the first time the community has come in the open after the suspected ISIS links in Kerala, and criticised the extremist outfits among Muslims.

The campaign was inaugurated by Samastha general secretary Prof Alikkutty Muzaliyar at K.P. Kesava Menon  hall. “There is no connection between Islam and ISIS.  Still the imperialist forces try to tarnish a religion of peace with the terrorist elements.  In this context, the fascists are trying to torture the Indian Muslims. The Salafi thoughts that misinterpret the Quran are also dangerous,” he said.

The meeting also stressed the harmonious legacy of the state, where even Hindus contributed to the construction of  mosques. This secular nature of the society gets disfigured by the activities of the Salafis, they said. The event was presided over by Samastha treasurer Prof K. Alikkutty Muzaliyar.
