KOZHIKODE: A.K. Remya, Eranholi grama panchayat president and wife of CPM member Sreejan Babu, who was brutally hacked allegedly by RSS men, has written an open letter to Union finance minister Arun Jaitley requesting him to stop deadly attacks by the RSS.  The letter mailed to Mr Jaitley in the wake of his visit to the state to ‘see the BJP-RSS victimisation at the hands of CPM’ is being spread widely through social media.  The Kunnummal branch committee member was attacked on July 3 while he was inside his auto rickshaw on Nayanar Road at Ponniam in Thalassery.

The gang that came from different sides hit him as he tried to escape. He was critically injured and is still under treatment at a hospital in Kozhikode. Kadirur police had identified eight RSS-BJP men and arrested five of them. Ms Remya said the dastardly act took place just an hour before the scheduled district level monthly bilateral peace talks in Kannur.  “RSS has not much influence in and around Eranjoli panchayat. That was the third attack on my husband. All the attackers were well known to him and were RSS workers. Till date, there has never been any criminal case against my husband or me,” she writes.  Also the DYFI Kannur district committee member, she requests Mr Jaitley to visit her husband in the hospital.  “We are also into politics. But it was entirely different from the antagonistic armed kind of violence RSS has been following,” she told DC.
