Nagma defends Karnataka government
Nagma recalled that Rahul Gandhi visited Tamil Nadu during floods last year and Karnataka government too had helped during the floods.
Chennai: Actor and all India Congress women’s wing general secretary Nagma on Tuesday said she did not know the details of the Cauvery dispute, but defended the Congress government in Karnataka saying it would not be unfair on the Cauvery issue.
Speaking to reporters at the state Congress headquarters, Sathyamurthybhavan here, she recalled that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi visited Tamil Nadu during floods last year and Karnataka government too had helped during the floods.
She said Karnataka government could have its own reasons for not releasing Cauvery water, she added, replying to persistent queries by reporters on the attitude of Congress high command over the Cauvery dispute.
She said it was her personal view that a woman should be appointed to head the TNCC, but she would not appoint male leaders as there is no gender discrimination in the party.
