Hyderabad: Dhruva College of Fashion Technology opened its Fashion Technology Institute at Hitec City, Hyderabad, on Tuesday and entered into an agreement with an international image management certification programme.

The Fashion Technology Institute was inaugurated by entrepreneur, curator and philanthropist Pinky Reddy. The event was also attended by Rajesh Chaturvedi, renowned image consultant and founder of VChic, an image consultancy firm, Varsha Chaturvedi, co-founder of VChic.

The institute said it had entered into an agreement with Prowess Image by VChic for its international image management certification programme. This is a first-of-Its-kind collaboration in India, it said. VChic is a professional development academy in the realm of image management, colour psychology, personal branding, behaviour, etiquettes, and effective communication.

With this agreement, the institute can organise training for aspiring image consultants in Hyderabad. The college will teach students how to creatively implement the seasonal looks in terms of fashion, style, image, colour analysis, makeup, and etiquette, and also on how to become an expert in the image industry, it said.

Speaking on the occasion, Jakkidi Venkat Reddy, chairman of Dhruva Group of Colleges, said, "Our target is to have at least one internationally certified image consultant in every household of Hyderabad city. We are offering two three-year courses — Bachelors in Fashion Technology (BFT) and Bachelors in Apparel Fashion Technology (BAFT)."

Pinky Reddy said image management was very important to everybody. "We might be well educated, talented and intelligent but if we do not have self confidence we cannot be successful in life. Image Management plays a key role in building self confidence," she said.

Mounika Reddy, vice chairperson of Dhruva Group of Colleges, said there were 50 seats in each course, and 10+2 students were eligible for it on a merit basis.
