VIJAYAWADA: Minister for health Vidadala Rajani directed the drugs control administration authorities to ensure no spurious drugs and also drugs not of standard quality to be in the market. The minister held a state-level review meeting with the drugs control administration authorities here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, she underlined the importance to be vigilant while issuing licences to set up pharmacies and also to renew their licence and called for regular supervision of pharmaceutical firms to find out whether they were following good manufacturing practices and also complying with the norms of Schedule-A. She also called for efforts to ensure the supply of blood by the blood banks as per norms fixed by the APSACS.

Maintaining that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had taken the initiative to help the drugs control administration department to get their own offices in the districts unlike the earlier practice of having no such offices, the minister said that so far 11 offices were made ready in the state in addition to getting two more labs at Kurnool and Visakhapatnam shortly. She said that as the Chief Minister was extending all requisite support to the department to strengthen it further, she asked the officials to work with commitment for the benefit of the people and felt the need to avoid any issue of corruption.
