CBI probe focuses on family friend in Ayesha Meera murder case

Vijayawada: The CBI probing the murder of B.Pharm student Ayesha Meera 16 years ago has questioned the victim’s family friend, , here on Wednesday.
CBI ASP AR Das asked Krishna Prasad who made statements in Krishna Prasad the police inquest report after the girl was found murdered in her hostel room, whether he had seen her body and the injuries on it. The B. Pharm first-year student was found murdered in the bathroom of her hostel on December 27, 2007.
The deceased’s family lawyer Srinivas who accompanied family friend Krishna Prasad to the CBI office, said he inquired with the officials on the progress of the case and about handing over the mortal remains of Ayesha after the re-post-mortem. The family elders would, thereafter, perform the last rites as per Muslim traditions.
He said the CBI might file the chargesheet soon after questioning several persons including the police officers who handled the post-death situations. “We appealed to the CBI to expedite the inquiry and bring the culprits to book without further delay.”
