Hyderabad: The foam that formed in the drain during the heavy rain on Monday persisted in Thursday, leaving residents of Dharaninagar and Allwin Colony in Kukatpally shocked.

They said the nalas that flow through the residential colonies were spreading a foul smell and mosquitoes were breeding in the stagnant pools.

Water from industrial estates was being released into the water without treatment, which was causing the foaming.

Residents at Shirdinagar Colony said that their complaints to the authorities had received no response.

Satish Kumar, a resident of Dharaninagar, said, “We requested the authorites to stop the release of chemicals into the nala but there is no use.”

A similar situation was witnessed in the nala near the GHMC headquarters near Tank Bund. The foam sometimes flies on to the road and lands on commuters.
