Kochi: Two public figures, Kochouseph Chittilappilly and Justice C N Ramachandran Nair, came heavily down on the attitude and the way in which the police in the state was handling the people’s protest against the stray dog menace haunting the state. Addressing the grand meeting of school students and the launch of the state level agitation against stray dog menace organised by Janaseva Sisubhavan, Kochouseph said that the DGP was acting like a buffoon in the issue.

“The DGP is one who bending backward before the Union Minister Maneka Gandhi. We don’t want a DGP who does not feel like a Malayali,” said Kochouseph. Justice C N Ramachandran Nair said that the Central minister has no locus standi to rebuke and issue directions to the DGP who comes under the state government. He said that ironically police who are supposed to catch those who kill people are after pe0ople who kill stray dogs.

The stray dogs are actually a threat to the people of the state and one cannot understand why the law enforcement agency is behaving like this, he said. Both of them and other speakers, however, disagreed with the act of publicly displaying the carcasses of stray dogs after killing them. Other speakers on the occasion included Kerala CBSE School Management Association president T P M Ibrahim Khan, actor Captain Raju and Janaseva Sisubhavan chairman Jose Maveli.
