Minister Kadakampally Surendran asks NHAI to solve flood problems
Due to the levelling works from highway, some drains and culverts were obstructed.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kazhakoottam MLA Kadakampally Surendran has asked National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials to find a solution to the floods that happen along Karikkakom and Venpalavattom due to the highway widening works. Due to the levelling works from highway, some drains and culverts were obstructed. This has been causing floods that rattled several areas along highway.
Since May 2016, every other shower that happened here has caused flooding in houses located under Anamukham and Kadakampally wards. The Lords Hospital Road also remain inundated causing difficulties to patients. “The NHAI officials has said that there will be relief to floods after the over bridge as a part of highway gets completed,” Minister Kadakampally Surendran said. The highway officials, local councillors and councillor were part of the delegation that took stock the flooding situation on Friday. Around Rs 40 lakh has been allotted to repair the roads in the flood affected area on war footing, minister said.
