2 arrested; ornaments worth Rs 29 lakh seized in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: The Byappanahalli police have arrested two inter-state house break theft offenders and recovered gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 29.45 lakh. The accused have been identified as, Kalidas, 36, and Loganathan, 52, both hailing from Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu.

According to the police, a notorious house break theft offender, Dinakar V., 31, hailing from Thirunelveli district in Tamil Nadu was involved in many cases in the city.

Byappanahalli police took him into custody from their Tamil Nadu counterparts and based on information shared by the accused, they tracked down his associates.  Six cases in Byappanahalli police station limits and one in Avalahalli police station were solved.

Probe revealed that after committing the offence the accused used to take away the lockers too which was available in the houses and they would later dispose the valuables in Tamil Nadu, in order to lead a lavish life.

The Byappanahalli police have registered a case and  recovered 1.3 kg of gold ornaments, 1.34 kg of silver articles and other tools used to commit the theft.
