Visakhapatnam: Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) in Visakhapatnam welcomed a new member to its wildlife family, with a 2.5-year-old lioness from Sakkarbaug Zoo in Gujarat released into its day kraal after completing the required quarantine period.
Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF), Visakhapatnam, Srikantha Natha Reddy formally released the lioness into its enclosure. IGZP curator Nandani Salaria deputy conservator of forests and Mangamma were present. It turned out to be a moment of delight for school students, who got the chance to be present.
The young lioness replaces two lionesses of the zoo, which had died due to old age.
