Hyderabad: Three gutka traders arrested

The traders used to buy gutka from Karnataka for lower price and sell it in city for higher prices.

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police have arrested three persons supplying gutka in different parts of the city in Jagathgirigutta. Police said that the trio had purchased gutka from Karnataka and were supplying it to local traders.

Rs 10 lakh worth gutka was seized from their possession. The arrested persons were identified as Mohammed Ghouse, 30, Dinesh Kumar, 32, and Naveen Kumar, 34.

According to the police, Mohammed Ghouse, a resident of Borabanda, Dinesh Kumar, resident of Sanjaypuri Colony and Naveen Kumar, resident of Allwyn Colony, are friends and they have been smuggling gutka for the past few months from other states. They procured gutka from Karnataka for at a lower price and sold it to the traders in the city for higher prices. 

Acting on a tip off, police started checking vehicles and found a minivan moving suspiciously and intercepted it. Upon searching the vehicle, police found gutka pouches packed in big bags. 

The trio confessed that they have been smuggling gutka to the city. They were arrested and sent to remand, while the gutka and the vehicle were seized.
