After Amma's death, 8 die of shock, grief

TIRUCHY: As many as eight ardent followers of Ms. Jayalalithaa including two woman died either of heart attacks or consumed poison following the untimely and sudden demise of their leader in Tiruchy, Karur, Pudukkottai and Nagapattinam districts since last night.

Official sources said a 25-year-old postgraduate girl, Manunayagi, of Melaponnanvidhuthi village in Pudukkottai district, who was watching the telecast of the AIADMK leader’s death, swooned on the floor. She was rushed to the government hospital at Alangudi, where doctors declared her ‘brought dead’.

A 55-year old-farmer Ramachandran of Thirupeyar in Perambalur district committed suicide by consuming poison at his residence on Tuesday, unable to bear the grief.

An aged woman, Maruthammal of Pannapatti village near Manaparai in Tiruchy district died of shock on hearing about Amma’s death, while another 80-year-old AIADMK volunteer Arokiasamy of suburb Ellakudi near Tiruchy, embraced the same fate.
