BJP leader K Surendran opens a Pandora's box
According to Mr Surendran's post, once the Jayalalithaa era comes to an end, the state would see a beneficial political change.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP general secretary K. Surendran has opened a Pandora’s box by his comment on the Facebook casting aspersions on the leadership of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa. His criticism came a few hours before her death triggering protests from the netizens. “Let her die peacefully first and then Sura (Surendran) can pay his respects. That would be a humanitarian gesture. You can later take stock of the Dravida politics. Unfortunately, the eyes of the jackal would also be in the cage of the chicken,” one said.
According to Mr Surendran’s post, once the Jayalalithaa era comes to an end, the state would see a beneficial political change. “Dravida politics which has been based on sycophancy and local sentiments would eventually rise to the national level with her demise,” he said. He also opined that under new Chief Minister O. Paneerselvam, the AIDMK would not prosper, and he ended his post saying, “let’s wait.”
Within minutes of his post, his followers on the social media site ranted at him. One comment said it was unfortunate that the vulture in him was eagerly looking forward to see the father die so that he can take over his cot. BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan told DC that he had not seen the controversial post. “I will definitely look into it and see what Surendran has to say,” said Mr Kummanam.
