Education minister C Raveendranath steps in; KTU exams from December 13
The University had to postpone the first and third semester examinations following the confusion over online transfer of question papers.
Thiruvananthapuram: Education Minister C Raveendranath has intervened to ensure that the conduct of the BTech examinations of the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University is being held without delay. Following the intervention of the education minister, the University decided to conduct the first and third semester examinations from December 13 to January 4. Earlier, the plan was to conduct the examinations after the Christmas holidays. The University had to postpone the first and third semester examinations following the confusion over online transfer of question papers.
Sources in the office of the education minister told Deccan Chronicle that the university had to postpone the examinations after students and faculty complained about the lack of transparency in the online transfer of question papers. Sources said that the government interfered to ensure that there was no delay in the conduct of the examinations using printed question papers. Following the intervention of the education minister, it was decided to conduct the examinations through the online transfer of question papers instead of going in for printed question papers.
Sources said that the All Kerala Private College Teachers Association (AKPCTA) had earlier come out against conducting the online transfer of question papers alleging that the process lacked transparency and there were chances of examination malpractices in self-financing engineering colleges. Hence they demanded that the examinations should be conducted using printed question papers.
