HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has decided to construct a sophisticated amusement park in Kukatpally. The park, spread over seven acres, would be constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 3 crore in the public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
Director of urban bio-diversity Mr V. Damodhar said that the amusement park at Kukatpally would have international standards. The park would have toy trains along with walking and cycling tracks. He said that the park will be constructed in five acres of GHMC land and 2 acres of revenue land.
Mr Damodhar also said that, GHMC was planning to develop and maintain major parks, city level parks, theme parks and colony parks by providing path ways, play equipment for children of all age groups. An increase in the number of parks would help maintain the ecological balance and reduce pollution. These developed parks will be handed over to the respective Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs) and Colony Welfare Associations (CWAs) for further maintenance. The GHMC would pay 75 per cent of maintenance cost and the balance 25 per cent would be borne by RWAs and CWAs.
