Vijayawada: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will visit Vijayawada on Thursday and lay the foundation stone for development works at the Kanaka Durga Temple.

The chief minister would also participate in the inauguration of various development works. Later, he would have darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga.

Endowments minister Kottu Satyanarayana, temple EO Rama Rao, police commissioner KR Tata and other higher officials reviewed the arrangements for the CM's visit.

Satyanarayana said the Durga temple is being developed at an estimated cost of '225 crore. The repair works would be carried out without causing any inconvenience to the devotees. “Jagan Reddy will lay the foundation stone in the morning. A four-storey automatic car park is being readied there as a permanent solution to the traffic woes. We are taking precautions to avoid landslides and a ramp will be built for the unused queues and put this into use,” he said.

The minister said the state government gave '70 crore to the Durga temple for the developmental works. Devasthanam funds would also be used for this purpose. “The development works will be undertaken on par with TTD systems, without causing any inconvenience to the devotees and as per the master plan.

The works will be completed within 18 months, and these would progress even during the election time,” he added.
