Power restoration on full swing in Michaung-hit areas
Vijayawada: Power restoration works in areas hit by the Michaung cyclone in Andhra Pradesh are going on in full swing. Electricity supply has resumed in most of the affected areas in the districts of Nellore, Guntur, Prakasam, Krishna, Chittoor, Kurnool, West and East Godavari, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram.
Special chief secretary (Energy) K. Vijayanand is continuously monitoring the teams, which are in the process of restoring power to minimise inconvenience to people.
APTRANSCO officials said the damaged 132 KV substation at Chendodu has been repaired and power supply from the substation has been resumed. “Out of 17 feeders affected, supply from 10 has been restored. Remaining seven feeders will be back in operation by tomorrow,” an official said.
Explaining the damages, APSPDCL chairman and managing director (CMD) K. Santosha Rao said in circles of Nellore, Tirupati and Kadapa, three EHT substations, 269 33/11 KV substations, 145 33 KV feeders, 770 33 KV poles, 2,341 11 KV poles and 247 DTRs have been restored to normalcy. Power supply has been resumed to 1,132 villages in 46 mandals and seven towns. The damage is assessed at ₹12.35 crore.
APEPDCL CMD I. Prudhvi Tej said in circles of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry and Eluru, 150 33 KV substations, 134 33 KV feeders, 16 33 KV poles, 514 11 KV poles and 173 DTRs have been restored to normalcy. Power supply has been resumed to 1,110 villages in 77 mandals. The damage is assessed at ₹5.45 crore.
APCPDCL CMD J. Padma Janardhana Reddy said in circles of Vijayawada, Guntur, CRDA and Ongole, 204 33/11 KV substations, 147 33 KV feeders,115 33 KV poles, 1,247 11 KV poles and 504 DTRs have been restored to normalcy. Power supply has been resumed to 1,707 villages in 109 mandals and 11 towns. The damage is assessed at ₹19.95 crore.
The special chief secretary requested people to cooperate with power staff, who have been working round the clock for restoring power supply.
